LGHS Library Media Center

Yet another dynamic resizing webpage, the Lake George High School Library page was created from scratch just after the school's renovation project.  Like past projects, all the images and initial layout design were conjured up in Photoshop, after going through some sketch book ideas on paper.

This time around, I tried to make the design a little bit different than my usual layout.  The image of the library in the center surrounded by the navigation buttons certainly was an interesting idea.  The reason for not having a side bar or header bar similar to other pages I've done was that the main library page wasn't going to have any content on it.  So, after having the creative juices flow for a little while, I arrived at this design.

This page wasn't jam packed with content, but rather simply had links to other library databases and book reviews.  The images on the page basically show off the layout of the library during it's daily day-to-day use.  As you can see, students definitely take advantage of it either to just hang out with their friends during a free period, or to sit down and study or work on some homework.  All the pictures were taken with a pocket-sized Nikon camera.

The pictures page is the second page where I've implemented Javascript pop-ups.  One of the first pages actually online that uses it are the Graphic Design Solutions pages.  This feature can be very handy for albums of images because of the time it saves as well as going to eliminate the need for multiple pages, each containing one or more full-sized image.  All the script basically does is act as a template, and when a link or image is clicked on, the script tags insert the path of the image and the title into the script's variables.  The end result gets you individual windows without much coding evolved.

This design has remained one of my favorites, for some of the reasons that were mentioned earlier.  Everything just seems to be very complementary within the set of pages.
