"The Sad Pirate" - Artist Statement

The idea behind this flash animation came from my apartment being dubbed "the pirate den", and various pirate-related doodles I've done scraps of paper. I took some of those ideas and drew them in illustrator (the pirate, the crab, and the stereo) and imported them into flash, then animated them using cell animation, motion tweens, and motion paths. Overall, I felt quite satisfied with the way this turned out, however, I would like to learn more about character animation so I could do it more efficiently.

As for a larger meaning, this piece doesn't really have a life lesson or moral to tell. It was just a fun little experiment with flash which told a silly little story about turning a frown upside down. :-)
